About Low-class consonants
Every Thai consonant belongs to one of three groups, called classes: high, mid and low. Low-class consonants include ค, ฅ, ฆ, ง, ช, ซ, ฌ, ญ, ฑ, ฒ, ณ, ท, ธ, น, พ, ฟ, ภ, ม, ย, ร, ล, ว, ฬ, and ฮ. In live syllables without a tone mark, they produce a mid tone. They behave differently with tone marks compared to mid and high-class consonants.
