Our Story

About Jam Kham

We're building the Thai learning app we wished existed. Research-backed, Thai-specific, and honest about what it takes.

Our Mission

"Make Thai language learning as effective as the science says it can be— without gimmicks, without false promises, and without treating Thai like it's just another language."

What's in a Name?

จำ (jam) means "to remember" or "to memorize." It's the verb for committing something to memory.

คำ (kham) means "word." It's the fundamental unit of language.

Together, จำคำ literally means "remember words"— exactly what we help you do. The name captures our focus: effective vocabulary acquisition, one word at a time.

Our Story

2023

The Problem

After trying every Thai learning app on the market, we found they all had the same problem: they treated Thai like a European language. No real tone training, no classifier drills, no understanding of Thai orthography.

2024

The Research

We spent a year studying the cognitive science of vocabulary acquisition. Spaced repetition, the testing effect, desirable difficulties—we built a system grounded in 50+ years of memory research.

2025

The Launch

Jam Kham launched with a mission: make Thai learning as effective as the science says it can be. Our 3-layer scheduling system is now helping learners build real, lasting Thai vocabulary.

What We Believe

Research-First

Every feature is backed by peer-reviewed cognitive science. We cite our sources and explain why things work.

Thai-Specific

We built for Thai from day one, not as an afterthought. Tones, classifiers, and script are core features.

Honest Progress

No fake streaks or inflated XP. Your progress reflects real vocabulary acquisition, not gamification.

Respect Your Time

We optimize for efficiency, not engagement. 10-20 minutes daily is enough for real progress.

Why We're Different

Others say
"Learn Thai in 30 days!"
We say
"Thai is genuinely challenging. With daily practice, most learners reach conversational ability in 4-6 months."
Others do
Gamification, streaks, XP, leaderboards
We do
Research-backed spaced repetition, honest progress tracking, real vocabulary counts
Others treat Thai
Like Spanish with funny letters
We treat Thai
As a tonal language with unique orthography that needs purpose-built features
