What's the difference between Speak Thai and Read Thai?
Speak Thai teaches spoken phrases for getting around Thailand, written in English letters so you can say them. Read Thai is a structured literacy course: the alphabet, the vowels and the tone rules, until you can sound out most Thai words from the script and work out their tone. They are two stages of one path: start with Speak Thai for a trip, or Read Thai if you live here, and add the other when you need it. Both are available now and start free.
Who is Jam Kham not a good fit for?
Jam Kham has two courses. Speak Thai teaches 189 set phrases for a trip; Read Thai teaches you to read the script and work out tones. Neither is a conversation course. There is no live teacher and no speaking partner, so if you want to hold real conversations, add a tutor or a language exchange. There are no leagues, XP or mini-games either, and nothing is built around keeping a streak: if those keep you going, you may find the courses plain. The free part of each course shows you how it teaches before you join.
Read Thai: monthly or Lifetime?
A membership ($9 USD every month) gives you the full course while it runs, and you can cancel any time. Lifetime is $49 USD one-time: one payment for all 11 modules, yours to keep, with nothing to renew. Start with the three free modules first to see if the course suits you.
